Long Modern Turquoise Earrings with Freeform Kingman Turquoise
The star of these earrings is a pair of color-matched, but mis-matched shape, natural turquoise mined in Kingman Arizona. I gave these a long, simple, setting by dangling them from twist wire and a added a geometric pattern to the back of the bezels so they are pretty even from the back with a short or 'up' hairstyle.
~~~The ear wires are 20g sterling silver to which I added a solid 5 mm sterling silver ball.
~~~The earrings measure 2 1/2" long from the top of the ear wire to the bottom of the dangle and 5/8" wide.
~~~Each earring weighs approximately 4.7 grams
To make these earrings, I started with sheet sterling silver and wire. I made a bezel cup setting for the freeform turquoise stones and soldered on the twist wire. For the ear wires, I first melted scrap sterling into two same size balls, smoothed the back and soldered on the wire.
