Silversmith earrings handmade by me, in my studio, featuring beautiful Labradorite stones that color shift from grey/green to a glowing green with hints of blue. I tried to capture this with the photos.
To make these earrings, I started with fine (pure) silver for the bezel around the stone, and solid sterling silver in various forms for the rest of the elements. For the earwires, I started by melting sterling bits into a ball, hammering the ball into a flower-shaped steel form, and then cutting out the flower with a saw. I soldered another tiny silver ball to the flower center, then soldered the flower to a sterling silver wire, which I formed into the earwire.
For the backplate of the Labradorite stones, I used sterling silver that I impressed with a botanical pattern and accented the setting with leaves that I forged from the melted ends of sterling wire and curled sterling wire to suggest vine tendrils.
Pretty from the back too!
~~~The ear wires are 20g sterling silver, to which I added a solid sterling silver flower.
~~~Measures approx 2” from the top of the earwire to the bottom of the dangle.
~~~The dangle portion measures 1 1/2" high by 9/16" wide.
~~~Each earring weighs approximately 6.1 grams.
